Thank you for your continued support of The LeRoy W. Homer Jr. Foundation.
The 9th Anniversary of September 11th, 2001. It doesn't feel anywhere near that long. There are many of us who have figured out ways to try to move forward; there are some of us who still struggle. For me, establishing and working with The LeRoy W. Homer Jr. Foundation has been a constructive and rewarding way to cope with the reality of my loss.
There are those who say we need to not think about the events of that day. But even if you did not lose a loved one, the world changed and those changes are impossible to ignore. So although there may be this prevailing thought that people want to forget, I don't think it's possible. I still read stories about the Holocaust, the Rwandan Genocide and many other atrocities committed throughout history. September 11th, 2001 is already being added to history books and studied by high school students - Lest We Forget.
The LeRoy W. Homer Jr. Foundation is a small organization with big aspirations, aspirations still becoming realities for young adults across the nation. Check out our video and see how our scholarship recipients are progressing. This year we also began outreach programs to disadvantaged New Jersey schools, introducing children to aviation, children who may not have dared to dream of becoming a pilot. We hope to be able to afford to continue with this program. We thank every individual, corporation and foundation who has supported us over the past eight years.
